This Old Fashioned Cobbler recipe is one of my favorite sweet things to make during the cold months here in Michigan. There is something special about the smell of pie coming from the kitchen that is sure to have the kids and the husbands helping get the plates and forks out. I usually will double the recipe and send one along to a neighbor or friend to enjoy. Sometimes it’s a simple gesture of a homemade treat that can make someone feel loved and thought of and really isn’t much extra effort. It was also be a great addition to your holiday menu if your searching for a sweet addition.
Pre Heat the oven to 375
2 Cups Flour
3/4 Cups butter shortening
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup water
Mix in a large bowl Flour, salt, shortening, and water until well combined and it becomes a ball. Separate the ball in half for the bottom layer of crust and the top layer of crust. Set aside.
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 Tbsp Flour
Core, skin and slice apples into small pieces. Add Sugar, cinnamon and flour and stir until well combined.
Grab a 9×13 pan and one ball of crust that you set aside. Begin to press down using your finder or a spoon until the bottom of the pan is covered. Next add the Apple filling. You then grab the last crust ball you set aside and roll out to cover the top of the filling. You can also flatten small pieces at a time and cover that way. Finally you slice a 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter on top of the crust and Bake for 50-60 Min.
