Happy Friday! Just a few weeks before Christmas and I can hardly believe it. We do have all our shopping done and a good chunk of things wrapped and for that I am thankful. Usually I am a little bit behind and end up rushing to grab some extra stocking stuffers or another gift to make things more “even”. Jordan and I usually end up staying up Christmas Eve into the wee hours trying to get everything wrapped up but this year we somehow have it together.
I think a big part of that is because we have simplified our gifting this year.We decided to break our kids gifts into categories. Something they want. Something they read. Something to build. Something to wear. And something for the family. Five gifts from Mom and Dad and we decided on one fun Santa gift + stockings. I cannot even tell you how much easier Christmas shopping has been this year. In years past I was always trying to keep record of how much I spent on each kid and would end up trying make things more even both number wise and money wise too. It was just such a headache. Also, we want our kids to focus more on giving than on receiving. Christmas is a great time to teach those lessons. The main reason though is because Christmas is about Jesus not presents and I never want my kids to think otherwise.
Every family is different and this is what we have chosen to do. Even if you do something different I hope that these ideas are helpful to you too. Also I should add that we have a large age gap in-between kids. Our daughter is going to be 15 this weekend, 6, 4 and a 5 month old.

We love to gift things for us all the enjoy and promote family time too. One of the things we really love to do is play games together. With the age gap between our oldest and younger three its important to us to make sure we can all enjoy something together. Games has always been the hit!
