We have always had a pretty strong bedtime routine. Dinner, Baths, Homework, Books and bed by 7:30-8pm. However, I could tell my two boys just were not settled down enough at bedtime. They were tired but their body wasn’t relaxed if that makes sense.
When I first started using oils we started diffusing a nighttime. Typically some sort of lavender mixture to help calm them down and get them ready for sleep.
Another thing I started doing was a nightly foot rub. This has quickly turned into so much more than a foot rub and more of a special time I have with each of them 1 on 1 each night. It’s really an act of service I can do for them to make them feel special and they usually will talk to me about things they are just wondering about or thinking and dreaming about and its just such sweet time for us to share. If you have more than a few kids you know how special these 1:1 moments can be.
I bought these rollers bottles on Amazon along with this Coconut oil and this Lavender Oil and Frankincense from Revive to make my foot rub roller bottle.
To make one yourself you simply:
- Mix together in a 10 ml roller bottle
- 5 drops Lavender
- 4 drops Frankincense
- fill the bottle with coconut oil
If you have an infant I would suggest the following
- 1 drop of Lavender
- fill the remaining bottle with coconut oil
If your babe does good with the one drop of Lavender you can add one more drop of Frankincense but don’t exceed two drops in a roller bottle. The safe dilution for 0-1 is 1-2 drops per Tablespoon.
I just roll this all over their feet and do their little foot massage to rub it all in and they love every second of it. We do make sure to put socks on after they are done so the oil soaks into their little feet. I can tell that it relaxes their little bodies and gets them ready and calm for a good nights sleep.
It is so fun to watch them race to see who can get ready for bed first so they can be the first ones to get their feet rubbed. haha. Such great memories being made.
Thanks for stopping by.
