Four years ago I purchased my very first cordless stick vacuum. I had previously had a Kenmore Canister and after lugging that thing up and down two flights of stairs every.single.day. with two babies trailing behind a cordless stick vacuum sounded like a dream.
We purchased the Dyson v6 stick (HERE) and it really was a dream. It was lightweight, had great power, was bag less (I cannot tell you how many times I would forget to order bags and be out) AND no cord! It was so easy to unplug from its charging station and do a quick sweep through and put it away. I sweep our floors every single day. I am a bit of an obsessive cleaner. I personally function better with a neat and tidy house and have made sweeping through our home apart of my daily routine so to have something with no fuss makes my life so much easier.
Fast forward four years and we have done some replacing on our V6. We have replaced the battery (after year 3 of daily use I noticed our battery didn’t hold much of a charge) and the brush head (also year 3. The brush would only sometimes spin) which was probably $120 total. We really needed to replace the carpet brush again which would have been another $80. So we decided to upgrade and get the Dyson V10 animal (HERE). The battery life was longer, the canister held more debris and the suction power was said to be much stronger. I thought I loved my V6..and then I tried the v10. WOW! What a difference. I am STILL amazed after having it for several months how much I get off our floors and area rugs after sweeping DAILY. I also can sweep our entire house (1800 sq ft) on one charge. 98% of our home is hardwood with area rugs and the other 2% is tile. Both models have always transitioned well from rug, wood, tile.
Here is what I think of them both seperatly
Dyson V6:
More affordable.
Transitions from different flooring great.
Battery life will last for our main floor but will need to recharge for an hour or two before I can move on to the upstairs/downstairs. It’s something that I got used to and didn’t find annoying after while.
Suction is good.
Cantier to hold debris is small and at will clog easily ( we have 4 kids a big dog and a cat) You also need to dig in the canister to get all the dirt/hair out when your ready to empty it – Gross.
Dyson V10:
over $150 more.
Battery life will last for our entire house.
Suction is AMAZING!
Transitions from different flooring great.
The canister holds a lot more and you do not need to use your fingers to dig out anything because as your emptying there is a attachment that scrapes everything out as your opening the canister.
I have noticed it takes less time to charge the battery but this could be because it is new. Not sure but a perk nonetheless.
So, if you are in the market for a new vacuum or have been interested in the cordless stick vacuums – Dyson is the best hands down. This post is not sponsored in any way. Just a happy mom spreading the love and joy of her vacuum hoping to help someone along the way.
