Earlier this year we made a huge decision – We bought a chunk of land to build our forever home! We have kept this under wraps for awhile and I am SO happy to finally share. To say we are excited is an understatement! We have been looking for a home for awhile but every time we would find something that fit our needs and had potential for renovations along with the land we desired it would 1. already have accepted another offer 2. we would be in a bidding war and loose or 3. They just wouldn’t pick our offer. There are SO MANY times we have felt so defeated in our house hunt journey.
There was a house that went up for sale at the beginning of the year and we decided to head to the open house. The listing claimed that it had 4 bedrooms and that it was larger than our current home. After walking through this house we realized the layout made it seem much smaller than our current home and it only had 3 bedrooms. So we left there feeling defeated again. We decided to just take a drive and talk instead of going back home and that is when we stumbled upon the property we ended up purchasing. We saw to for sale sign so we stopped, got out and walked around. It’s hard to see from pictures but it has a big ridge that runs through the property and after we climbed to the top of that ridge and looked around we knew this was it! This is where we wanted to be and felt like God lead us right there at that very moment. The view is absolutely beautiful! You can see the tops of all the surrounding woods for miles. ( I most certainly did not climb the hill through brush to take photos of the view but I will later when I wear proper shoes. ) We made the offer and its now ours!
It’s funny how God works things out like that. When you least expect it. When your feeling down or defeated and you feel like all hope is lost. He brings about what he has promised you. Not in your timing of course but he makes sure the blessing falls into your lap and there is no denying that it is God ordained.
Our plans for now are to start building next year. We are currently working with an architect to dream up our house plans and I will share those once they are finalized and we have the blueprints in hand. Think a little more traditional with splashes of cape cod and classic details for our vibe. A cedar roof and copper gutters are what I have been dreaming about. Not sure if that will be reality but we will see and a girl can dream, right? From there we will start interviewing builders and have a better idea of how long everything will take. COVID has made things a little more interesting and may throw us some curve balls. From what we understand builders are still scheduling out far in advance and we have heard there is a possible lumbar shortage looming.
We are so excited to just have a plan and so thankful God works all things out for our good. Even in the waiting that can seem like forever. He has a plan and we can trust and have faith that in HIS timing it will happen.
