One of my favorite things to decorate as we usher in Fall is our front porch. It brings me so much Joy to add all the pumpkins, mums, kale and corn stalks. Each year I decorate a little different but rollings pumpkins down our steps has remained the same. For me decorating our porch seasonally is another facet of having a home that is inviting. When I visit a home with a put together porch it makes me want to come inside and stay awhile. Its also fun for the kids to get involved and help usher in a new season too.
Today, I put together three different ways to decorate your porch for Fall. It was so fun to pull together a few different ways you could decorate your porch. I made a wreath this year out of Foraged goods (blog coming soon) and the other wreath I had from a previous year. I grabbed two unused baskets from our basement, a painting I’ve had for several years and purchased mums, kale, corn stalks and pumpkins locally. You don’t have to have a lot of money to make your porch festive. A few mums and a pumpkin can go a long way. I DO spend the most money decorating our porch for Fall compared to other seasons. This year specially because its possibly the last year in our home.
I also freshened things up by repainting our porch and giving our front door a new “Fall” color. I bought a $6 sample of paint for our door at Sherman Williams (Benjamin Moore Dusty Ranch Brown lightened 25%) and already had everything I needed to give our concrete a fresh coat of paint. Just a few hours of my time made all the difference.
This first look I kept super simple. A corn husk wreath I purchased last year, a painting I have had for several years, Two mums and decorative kale along with a handful of pumpkins. Its simple but oh so festive. If your on a tighter budget you could easily make your own wreath and paint your own pumpkin on tin or wood and easily omit the pumpkins. Still festive and pretty!
For the second look I went all out with the pumpkins which is what I typically do – Pumpkins everywhere! The kids LOVE it and I always thrown them in the garden at the end of the season and they end up sprouting some pumpkin plants the following year. We bought half our pumpkins at a local farm stand near our house and the rest at a local greenhouse. I kept the Same wreath and painting here.
Here I changed out our wreath with one I made out of foraged good that the side of the road provided haha and replaced the painting for corn husks. This is how I kept our porch this year. It was a last minute decision to pull out the baskets from our basement and use them as planters and I think it really pulls everything together. Its so easy to feel like you have to go and purchase new things each season but if you just take a minute to look around your home, I’m sure you will find some great things you can re-purpose.
This door color is my favorite thing!
Thanks you for stopping by the blog today! I hope you are inspired to freshen up your porch, get the kids involved and add in some touches of your favorite Fall things.
