Old Fashioned Blueberry Muffins

Growing up I spent a lot of time with my Nana who passed down her love of baking to me. Every time it would rain I knew we would be baking something, usually chocolate chip cookies and I looked forward to spending that special time with her in kitchen. Looking back now as an adult she was probably just trying to find something to occupy me for a few hours but it left a lasting impression on me and is now something that I do with my own kids. I still remember when Baylen was just under two and it was raining outside and I was VERY pregnant with our third when he announced on his own that it was raining and we needed to make treats. So off to the store we went to buy ingredients to keep the tradition alive. If it rains several days in a row we only bake once but its still something special to do together in the kitchen and we typically share whatever we have made with our neighbors.

I wanted to share a recipe I have made for years with you today. Old fashioned Blueberry Muffins. They are the best! I usually double this recipe for our family of 5 so they last more than a few days.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

mix together in a bowl the following:

1/2 cup butter at room temp.

2 eggs

1 cup of sugar

1 cup sour cream

1 tablespoon vanilla

after all is combined and smooth continue to add:

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

mixing until combined and then add

2 cups fresh blueberries

Its best is you are using a stand up mixer to mix the blueberries in by hand. Then fill your muffin tins up and bake for 15 minutes.

I hope you and your family enjoy these are much as mine does. They are so easy to make and they don’t last long around here. Im actually about to drop these off to a friend that just had a baby.

Thanks for stopping by today and if  you end up making these, I would love to hear what you think.
