DIY

Peg Boot Storage

We have this small area in our garage that is basically a drop all and go zone. The shoe pile was quite the situation and no one could EVER find their shoes. I knew that in order to save my sanity I needed to make this small corner function better. I decided to DIY some English Country style boot storage.

I grabbed some 1×3 pine boards and 1″ dowels at my local hardware store and got to work.

I cut down each of my 1×3 boards to 3′ which fits my wall perfectly and my dowels to 4″. I used a total of 6 dowels.

Next I grabbed a 7/8″ spade bit to drill into my 1×3 board creating a hole in the shape of a circle that will perfectly fit my 1″dowel.

I spaced each of my holes 3.5″ apart.

I used construction adhesive to secure my dowels in the 1×3 hole and let them dry for 24 hours before painting them.

I painted my boot pegs and garage walls Storm Cloud Gray by Benjamin Moore. Its NOT gray but def a moody green.

It took an afternoon of work but this corner functions so much better now and has really helped maximize an otherwise cluttered non functional space.
