I have recently completely switched over to ALL homemade sourdough bread for our family. Once a week I bake 4 loaves of bread for toast, sandwiches, French toast etc. There is nothing like the smell of fresh bread being baked in the Kitchen. You can totally tell the difference between freshly baked and store bought bread. I actually used to buy sourdough bread from the store but its just not the same. A lot of extra preservatives, unnecessary ingredients etc. Sourdough is actually way better for ...
Laundry Space
When we first moved into our house the Laundry was actually in the basement. As our family grew, luging laundry up and down three floors with three became quite the chore. Our Entryway was an addition from the 80s and it's actually quite spacious for a house built in the 40s. We had two huge closet that were not my favorite. They had dark pretend wood bifolds that half the time wouldn't open and since they were dark they really closed in the space. One of the closets turned into a bench ...
How to make Sourdough Pancakes
For the past few years I have been making all things sourdough. We absolutely LOVE these sourdough pancakes - well actually anything sourdough we are all for but these pancakes are truly amazing, moist and so fluffy. When I am making these I always make a double batch and store them in the refrigerator for a quick breakfast. We heat them up in the toaster for a quick breakfast on a School day. Sourdough Pancakes Add Together: 1 cup Sourdough Starter 2 Tablespoons Sugar 1 1/2 ...
Paper Gingerbread Garland
After we made the 2D gingerbread houses for the boys' room (HERE) I had this idea to make garland. This time I wanted the "icing" to actually LOOK like icing and not just paint. I originally tried just glue thinking if I kept it thick it would dry more 2d and raised. This failed and ended up looking awful. I headed to the craft store to see about some fabric glue and that is actually what worked the best. It did take hours for it to fully dry but it was well worth the ...
Organized Art Cupboard
It is no secret that we are a big DIY/Craft Family. My kids love to "do Art" and are constantly doing something creative. I knew I really needed to get our Art supplies organized and under control when it started spilling out of every nook and cranny of storage we had. I had stored our markers/colored pencils/pens etc. in plastic bags that would either 1. break or 2. would no longer be separated because the kids wouldn't put things back correctly. My Mother in Law gave me this old Antique ...
DIY Paper Bag Stars
This is one of the simplest and most affordable DIYs I have done in awhile. It is simple enough that everyone can help, kids included! Supplies Brown or White Paper Bags (We found our white ones from Gordons Foods) Glue sticks or Hot glue (we used Hot glue) Scissors (make sure they are super sharp. Mine were a little dull. Hole punch (or just use the end of your scissors) String or ribbon for hanging First you want to unstick all your paper bags. For some reason they are ...
